Report of the Rapid Alert Subsystem on Drugs (SAR) and a survey of the Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology laboratories of the Scientific Police of the country will be presented to the public with the presence of researchers and experts

Brasilia, 26 / 10 / 2022 – Free registration is open to accompany the launch of the 3rd Report of the Rapid Alert Subsystem on Drugs (SAR) and Diagnosis of the Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology Laboratories of the Scientific Police of Brazil. The online event, which will be broadcast live, takes place on November 3 at 14pm.

The 3rd SAR Report provides information on the Information and Toxicological Assistance Centers (CIATox) in Brazil, highlighting the relevance of these units as notification systems on the consumption of new psychoactive substances (NSP). The publication was prepared by the SAR Technical Committee together with two of the largest CIAToxs in the country, the one from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and the one from the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), and has technical support from the Center of Excellence for Reduction in the Supply of Illicit Drugs (CdE). The SAR Technical Committee is coordinated by the National Secretariat for Drug Policies and Asset Management (Senad/MJSP) and is made up of representatives from the National Public Security Secretariat (Senasp/MJSP), Federal Police (PF), National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), National Secretariat of Care and Drug Prevention of the Ministry of Citizenship (Senapred/MC) and Federal Revenue of Brazil (RFB).

The research with these Centers made it possible to obtain important information about the profile of people who seek care for intoxication by drug use and the recurrence of substances used, including NSP.

Mapping

The Diagnosis of Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology Laboratories of the Scientific Police of Brazil sought to map areas such as human resources, management and infrastructure of laboratories specialized in the identification of crude drugs and drugs in biological samples present in all states of the country and in the Federal District.

Produced through a partnership between CdE, Senad and Senasp, the study provides information that may contribute to the foundation of actions at the federal and state levels, for the execution of the National Drug Policy Plan (Planad).
